Cub Pack 805C and Boy Scout Troop 441 marched in the Downey Christmas Parade. A large contingent of Cub Scouts dressed as Christmas presents, while the Webelos (4th and 5th graders) had sacks of presents to carry in the parade. Additionally, several of our boys helped carry banners throughout the parade, supporting the sponsors who made the parade possible.

Downey Patriot Article on Boy Scouts of America, featuring quotations by Troop 441’s own David Kim.
“You do feel like you’re part of the community,” said Downey Eagle Scout David Kim. “You are learning to be a functioning citizen. You are learning to be an engaged resident whether it’s in the community or the country.
“Kids might not realize it, but they grow up in the Scouts, and learn to play a role in the community.”

Two weekends ago, right after school let out, we camped at Manker Flats in the mountains, and hiked to the top of Mt. Baldy (also known officially as Mt. San Antonio).
We rode the ski lift up to Baldy Notch

And then we sat and rested in the ski lift chairs:

The boys hiked along the Devil’s Backbone, across the mountain ridges.

The pancake breakfast on June 1st was a great success. We served over 250 people, with over 80 people coming as walkins that day. A big thank you to the staff at Apollo Park in Downey, for providing the room, tables and chairs early in the morning, it made the day run very smoothly!
Thank you for allowing us to serve you breakfast!
Our annual pancake breakfast will be held at Apollo Park on Sunday June 1st. Unfortunately, the ad in the Downey Patriot misstates the day as “Tomorrow”. We apologize for the error.
We will be in the Activities Room, near the basketball courts. Breakfast is $3 for pancakes, eggs, sausage and coffee. We hope you will join us!
On the third weekend of May, 2008, Troop 441 did a backpack trip to Pt. Mugu State Park. We stayed at La Jolla Campground, and took off for the peak before sunset. We arrived at the top just after sunset, but still managed to grab some gorgeous views. We hiked back to camp in the dark, under a full moon.
